SPECIMEN 002 — DREADMAW

THE THING THAT CAME THROUGH THE WALL

Classification: Heavy Assault Organism
Role: Breach / Shock Assault
Threat Level: Extreme
Deployment: Fortified Positions / Defensive Lines
Status: Active

BIOFORM PROFILE

Dreadmaw is a heavily armoured assault organism evolved for one purpose: to break what cannot be easily breached.

Its dense biological armour protects a powerful internal structure while massive limbs provide the strength required to tear through barriers, vehicles and hardened defensive positions.

Unlike the specialised hunters of the Veiled Hunt, Dreadmaw does not rely upon concealment or coordinated pursuit.

It is the opposite.

It is the assault.

Once committed to a target, Dreadmaw advances relentlessly, absorbing punishment while its immense strength gradually reduces the battlefield around it to biological and structural debris.

BATTLEFIELD FUNCTION

The Hive does not deploy Dreadmaw to capture ground.

It deploys Dreadmaw when something occupying that ground must be removed.

Its preferred targets are fortified structures, defensive emplacements and heavily protected positions that would otherwise require significant expenditure of lesser bioforms.

Dreadmaw provides the solution.

It approaches under whatever covering organisms the Hive can provide, closes the distance and begins dismantling the obstruction piece by piece.

The process is rarely fast.

It doesn't need to be.

Dreadmaw does not need to win the battle quickly.

It only needs to keep moving.

ADAPTIVE ARMOUR

The outer shell of Dreadmaw is not simply protection.

Its layered biological armour distributes incoming force across the creature's frame, allowing it to continue functioning despite sustained attacks.

Damage that would cripple a lesser organism becomes little more than information.

The Hive learns where the resistance is strongest.

Dreadmaw keeps moving toward it.

BREACHING STRUCTURES

The creature's enormous forelimbs have evolved beyond conventional predatory anatomy.

They are tools of destruction.

Walls are fractured.

Entrenchments are opened.

Armoured surfaces are prised apart.

Once a weakness has been created, Dreadmaw widens it until the defensive position can no longer support itself.

The resulting breach is rarely the end of the attack.

It is the beginning of the next phase.

FIELD OBSERVATION

RECOVERED REPORT // VH-OBS-002
SOURCE: Forward Defensive Command
STATUS: PARTIAL

"At first we thought it was artillery."

"The impacts were too regular."

"Then the wall moved."

"Not collapsed."

Moved."

"Something was pushing against the other side."

"We opened fire through the breach."

"It didn't stop."

We hit it with everything we had."

It kept coming."

"The last thing I remember seeing was its head coming through the wall."

"After that, there was no wall."

REPORT TERMINATED.

THREAT ASSESSMENT

THREAT LEVEL: EXTREME

Dreadmaw should never be considered a conventional assault organism.

Its greatest weapon is not its armour.

It is not its strength.

It is persistence.

Every defensive position eventually becomes damaged.

Every wall eventually develops a weakness.

Every defensive line eventually breaks.

Dreadmaw exists to ensure that the process continues until the Hive can pass through.

FORTIFICATIONS ARE NOT OBSTACLES.

THEY ARE PROBLEMS WAITING TO BE SOLVED.
